Brides Calendar
There are always lists of when to do things. Very few people do things this systematically. I don't and probably you don't either. However, this calendar is a helpful guideline to use. As you accomplish the items on the list, simply cross off the box so you will know it has been done.
Six months before:
Y Discuss wedding budget with your parents if you'll share expenses, include fiancée and his parents.
Y Select the type of wedding you want.
Y Decide on wedding and reception sites.
Y Determine the number of guests you can accommodate at both sites.
Y See clergyman with fiancée.
Y Plan reception, make reservations.
Y Choose and order your dress, accessories.
Y Select and register china, silver etc.
Y Begin guest list,
Y have fiancée do his.
Y Choose attendants.
Y Plan new home, begin shopping for it.
Y Send for honeymoon brochures, consult a travel agent for ideas.
Three months before:
YComplete your guest list.
Y Order invitations and announcements.
Y Begin shopping for trousseau.
Y Address invitations and announcements (allow four weeks for engraving).
Y Set date to order attendants' dresses.
Y Select a portrait photographer.
Y Make an appointment with gynecologist to examine you, discuss birth control.
Y Make your honeymoon reservations.
Y Plan ceremony, reception details with organist, caterer, etc.
YHave portrait taken.
Y Arrange for announcement in newspapers.
One month before:
Y Buy the groom's wedding gift.
Y Mail your invitations.
Y Order flowers for wedding, reception.
Y Have final dress and headpiece fitting.
Y Choose gifts for your attendants.
Y Order groom's ring.
Y Arrange lodging for out-of-town guests.
Y Plan your bridesmaids' luncheon.
Y Make plans for the rehearsal dinner.
Y Write thank-you notes for gifts.
Two weeks before:
YComplete your trousseau.
Y Go with your fiancée for marriage license.
Y Arrange to transport attendants to church.
Y Send announcements to newspapers.
Y Make an appointment with hairdresser.
Y Buy your luggage; double check honeymoon reservations.
Y Arrange rehearsal, tell the wedding party.

 

One week before:
Y Begin your honeymoon packing.
Y Finish writing your announcements to mail on your wedding day.
Y Give a final estimate of the number of reception guests to the caterer.
Y Give and/or attend bridesmaids' luncheon.
Y Check on final details with florist,
Y Photographer,
Y Musicians, etc.
Y Arrange to move belongings to new home.
Y Keep up with gift acknowledgements.
