Camarillo Ranch

The Camarillo Ranch was originally a
Spanish land grant created in 1837, patented to Gabriel Ruiz in 1866, then
purchased by Juan Camarillo in 1875. His son Adolfo built the Queen
Anne Victorian home in 1892. Later the barn and stables were added
to support the agricultural work and house the renowned Camarillo white
horses. Today the ranch
is owned by the city of Camarillo and operated by the non profit Camarillo
Ranch Foundation.

The City of
Camarillo, along with the Camarillo Ranch Foundation, completed a $1.5
million restoration of the property in 1999-2001 as a special events
center as well as a cultural and educational facility. The 4.5 acre site
consists of several event venues. The Ranch is able to accommodate any
themed event from a hoe-down to the most elegant of affairs in the
manicured gardens and period furnished interiors of the mansion. |

The most notable structure of the Ranch is the Camarillo Ranch House. Built in 1882, the large Victorian era house was the longtime residence of the City's founder, Adolfo Camarillo and his family. The home itself can accommodate up to 125 guests for a seated reception on the first floor or 165 for stand up cocktails and hors d'oveures. It features richly wallpapered rooms, hardwood floors, original fireplaces and extensive interior woodwork. A generous wrap around porch allows guests to feel like they are transported back in time. The home is fully furnished as a house museum , but easily converts to become an event center for receptions and weddings. A caterer's staging kitchen is also available as well as a bridal changing room and private restrooms. |
|
The Gardens feature mature trees, water fountains and extensive planting. Numerous thematic gardens range from a butterfly garden to a formal Victorian garden which means something is always in bloom and provides the perfect backdrop for photography. The expansive main front lawn with its canopy of historic trees can accommodate up to 600 guests. The East and West Garden areas and White Horse Garden offer more intimate event venues for 50-250 guests. |
